Familiar Faces Sharing Years of Experience

Shannon C. Schaffer, O.D.

Dr. Shannon Schaffer grew up in Liberal, a small town Southwestern Kansas, playing every sport available and enjoying friends. The son of a small town barber, and watching small business at work, would greatly influence the desire to one day create a business of his own.

After a year of community college, and a short time at Kansas University, Dr. Schaffer graduated in 1991 with honors from Northeastern State Oklahoma University in Tahlequah, with a bachelor degree in Vision Science and a Doctorate in Optometry.

A few months after graduation, he made his home in West Omaha and began working for Malbar Vision Corporation. November 1998, he created his private practice of OmegaVision PC Eye Clinic, located at the corner of 168th and West Center Road. In 2006, the practice was renamed Family Eye Care and moved across the street into the current location in The Shoppes of Legacy.

On the home front, Dr Schaffer has 3 boys, Matt, Mike, and Jack. They are frequently found playing basketball in the cul-de-sac, camping, boating, fishing, kayaking, and playing music. In November 2016, Dr. Schaffer married his grade-school friend and former St Stephens kindergarten teacher, Lisa Winkler.

Chris M. Connor, O.D.

Dr. Chris Connor grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from Lincoln East High School prior to studying Biological Sciences at the University of Nebraska. After earning his bachelor's degree, he moved south to Memphis, Tennessee and earned his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in 2016. While earning his doctorate, Dr. Connor served as a clinical teaching assistant, volunteered with Remote Area Medical, and was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. As part of his clinical training, Dr. Connor completed rotations at Omaha Eye & Laser Institute, The Eye Center at Southern College of Optometry, and at a private practice in Kansas City, Missouri. He began his professional career in the Kansas City area prior to returning to Omaha in 2018. After several years of living away from home, he is thrilled to be back in Nebraska and joining Dr. Schaffer! He is a member of the Nebraska Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He is a volunteer board member with the Radio Talking Book Service, a Nebraska organization providing reading services to the blind, visually-impaired, and eldery. Dr. Connor is married to fellow optometrist, and Grand Island native, Dr. Sara Petska. They enjoy traveling, running, Husker sports, and spending time outside with their rescue mutt.
